Why is the Idea of Generating Solar Energy for Your Home by Installing Solar PV System Profitable?

Investment in solar energy may be high, but when compared with electricity cost you spend every month will be much less. Residential homes are rearing towards solar power and realizing the value investment in solar energy setup.

Let’s take a look at the benefits of solar energy for your home:

  • Save money
  • Free electricity
  • Cleaner environment

A solar photo voltaic (PV) system is installed to generate plenty of free energy for you to use. The more solar energy you can use in the day to power your home, the less you will need to draw from the national grid. Thus, it will save you hundreds of pounds a year.

As the system harnesses energy from the sun for free, you can thus protect yourself against energy price hikes and any energy crisis.

Your solar PV system does not produce any carbon emissions, unlike burning fossil fuels for your energy! You can thus do your bit for a cleaner environment.

How does a solar PV system work?

Those Solar panels installed either on your roof or on a nearby plot of land turn sunlight into DC electricity during the day. There will be an inverter within your home to turn the DC electricity generated into AC electricity. That AC electricity will power your home appliances. There is a huge misconception that solar panels only work when it is sunny. Panels simply require daylight to work, which means you will get solar energy for your home all year round!

Is there any Government incentive?

There is a Feed-In Tariff scheme introduced by the government. This is paid directly to you for generating clean and renewable energy. There are two parts to the Feed-In Tariff. One is the export tariff and the other is the generation tariff. There will be a meter to measure exactly how much electricity your solar panels have generated and that will give you the reading that you will submit to your energy provider and your energy provider will send you your payments either quarterly or annually.

Note that the payments are currently worth up to £7,000 over the 20 year period of your system. However, the scheme is ending on March 31, which means there is little time left to install a PV system with the added bonus of the Feed-In Tariff scheme.

Is there a way to get the most out of a solar PV system?

Solar PV system has developed noticeably over last few years. The solar PV panels have become more powerful and efficient, designs have become sleek and modern and with added benefits such as battery storage to store your energy for evening use, electric vehicle chargers and other great add on products and many more!

Generating solar energy for your home is now a no-brainer for anybody if looking to reduce energy bills, do a bit for the environment and earn money from the Feed-In Tariff scheme.
